It’s now been 7 months since I did my back in and I am still getting pain. I am now pretty much used to the constant background discomfort, but when I bend too much, move suddenly or try to lift anything heavy, I get a stabbing pain. Whilst not enough to bring be to my knees, it certainly can take my breath away and for about 30 minutes to an hour afterwards I have very painful sciatica through my right buttock.
I have sacked my Physiotherapist whose manipulations have set me back a bit (I'm now pretty much back to how I was before I saw her nearly 3 weeks ago) and who lied to me about basic anatomy and physiology…
I'm still seeing my world class Osteopath once a week as she gives me back a lot of movement, but doesn't really do anything for the pain. At £45 a time it’s getting rather expensive, but it’s worth it to keep moving!
I'm now being referred to an Orthopaedic consultant to see if there’s anything they can do. I keep hearing of these miracle injections you can get into the disc. I’m willing to try anything now to get my back right.
I'm also going to the gym about 4 times a week to do low impact cardiovascular work, light high repetition weights and core muscle strengthening exercises. I was going 7 times a week, but now I'm back on light duties I am finding I have less energy.
